Byzantine Glass Cabochon in Silver Gilt Ring

8th-10 century AD. A red glass cabochon with intaglio cross within a wreath, set into a later silver-gilt finger ring with pie-dish bezel. 5.47 grams, 26.33mm overall, 19.48mm internal diameter (approximate size British P, USA 7 1/2, Europe 16.23, Japan 15) (1"). Property of a London gentleman; formerly with the Mahboubian Gallery, London, UK; acquired before 1972.
