Byzantine Gold Ring with Facetted Garnet

5th-10th century AD. A gold ring with expanding hoop, facetted shoulders, ellipsoidal bezel and setting, the latter with decorative incised line around the circumference and short claws holding a possibly later facetted garnet. 4.68 grams, 23.60mm overall, 15.68mm internal diameter (approximate size British G, USA 3 1/4, Europe 4.92, Japan 4) (1").
