Byzantine Lead Seal from the Emperor Maurice Tiberius, 582-602 AD The Virgin standing facing, holding Christ before her; to left and right, small, thick cross with an elongated vertical shaft at shoulder level. Rev. [Dn TibЄR m-AURIC PP AVI] (This Legend is part of this type of Seals but due to an off centering is unreadable on this example) Rev: Draped facing bust of Maurice Tiberius, wearing crown with cross on top and pendilia. Ref: DO VI 9. 1. Seibt, BBÖ I, 9a. Zacos/Veglery 7a Channel partially broken damaging part of the emperors and Virgin Mary heads and the Legend cutted due to an off-centering caused from an inaccurate minting, otherwise in Good Condition. See Photo Very rare used in the correspondences sealed with the emperors seal used as an instrument of spreading orders the most significant way to exchange the information at the time.
