Byzantine Ring Collection

6th-12th century AD. A group of five bronze rings comprising: a circular-section hoop with plaque engraved with cross and annulets; a flat-section hoop, bezel engraved with a swimming duck; a round-section angled hoop, bezel engraved with two stylised embracing figures; a small D-section hoop, engraved plaque with a stylised advancing beast; a flat-section supporting a plaque engraved with two nimbate figures, chi-rho above, symbols to the field. 16.31 grams total, 17-25mm overall (3/4 - 1"). Property of a Mayfair lady; formerly in an important London collection formed since 1965. [5]
