Byzantine Ring with Geometric Design

14th century AD. A bronze finger ring with scooped shoulders, trumpet bezel with low-relief hatching. Cf. Chadour, A.B. Rings. The Alice and Louis Koch Collection, volume I, Leeds, 1994, item 371 for type. 7.13 grams, 31.12mm overall, 18.24mm internal diameter (approximate size British P 1/2, USA 7 3/4, Europe 16.86, Japan 16) (1 1/4"). Property of a gentleman; acquired in the late 1960s-early 1970s. This style of ring is influenced by contemporary Mameluk fashion - see Chadour, ibid., item 538 for an example. [No Reserve]
