Classic configuration with half moon blade front sight, U notch flat top rear sight with "P" proof mark ahead of rear sight, oriented to be read muzzle up, 2-line 2-block patent and address information with intercepting rampant Colt. Matching serial number on slide under firing pin retaining plate. Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, "P" proof on left lug, and "G" ahead of lug. Top of frame has boxed "R.S." and faint "G" (?, difficult to read) proof near disconnector. Frame has boxed "R.S." proof below slide release for Colonel Robert Sears, the Army Inspector from August 3rd, 1937 through June 30th, 1941, with an approximate inspection range of 723000 to 750500, making his inspections fairly scarce. Other markings include a "P" at magazine release, "W" and Colt's VP proof on left side of trigger guard, US property marking, serial number, and model designation on right side of dust cover, and "60" subinspector on right side of trigger guard. Small parts comprise checkered spur hammer, checkered slide release, checkered thick tab safety, short checkered trigger, checkered magazine release, long A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard look. Coltrock grips with scoop lightening and thin reinforcing rings. CONDITION: Overall very good, with the vast majority of the Colt brushed blue finish, with some scattered handling marks, some silvering, throughout; most offensive a small approximately 1cm x 1cm area at serial number. Grips are very good with some abraded heads on both scales. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some mild frosting throughout.
