(C) COLE AGEE CATTLE BRAND ENGRAVED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER.

Manufactured in 1902. Full coverage engraving in the "Texas Cattlebrand" style made famous in the early to mid 20th century by legendary Texas engraver Cole Agee, and fit with a pair of 2 piece sambar stag grips. Agee engraved guns from the 1920s-1955 and is best remembered for his legendary, distinct style with cattlebrands on a punchdot background. After his death in 1955, his legacy was continued by his student Weldon Bledsoe, and is continued today by David Wade Harris. Agee is reported to have never signed his work, therefore accurate attribution is extremely difficult. Accompanying this revolver are a copy of a biographical article from the October/November 1980 issue of the "Arms Gazette", a copy of the Arms Gazette issue featuring the article, a copy of an article from the "Gun Report" featuring a cattlebrand engraved SAA, and a letter from Weldon Bledsoe dated December 21, 1981 stating that it is his opinion that Cole Agee engraved this revolver. CONDITION: Excellent, with virtually all of the added nickel plating remaining. Grips are in matching condition with no major signs of distress. Mechanically fine with all 4 hammer stops.
