(C) COLT MODEL 1911 SEMI AUTOMATIC PISTOL (1918).

Circa 1918. Classic configuration with half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight, 2-line 2-block patent and address on left side with rampant pony at rear. Right side of slide with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY". "H" stamped on lip above firing pin retaning plate. Barrel with a stacked "P / H" on hood, oriented to read with the barrel up, and "5" stamped ahead of lug. Top of frame with "H" "E" and "G" proofs about disconnector. Frame proofs include US property marking on left side of dust cover, interwined JMG for Major John Gibert above magazine release, and serial number on right side of frame. Small parts comrpise checkered spur hammer, thick tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release with milled relief cut, checkered magazine release, long milled trigger, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, truncated diamond checkered walnut grips, and a 2-tone magazine without lanyard loop. CONDITION: Good, retaining the majority of the factory bluing, with scattered handling marks throughout, including some brown mossing coming up through the blue. Some thinning and silvering to muzzle and front of dust cover consistent with holster use, and generally to sharp edges. Most offensive group of marks on left side of frame near slide release. Straps largely gunmetal grey with mossing, with more blue in less trafficked areas. Stocks are very good with some handling marks, and a few abraded heads. Mechanically fine, bore is very good with strong rifling and some minor frosting towards chamber.
