(C) FACTORY ENGRAVED COLT NEW SERVICE DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER.

Manufactured in 1919, fewer than 75 New Services were factory engraved. This one also sports a set of factory bulls head ivory two-piece grips with silver medallions. The foliate engraving has a very fine stippled background. It also has several geometric designs incorporated into the engraving. Blade front sight with a U-notch rear sight. Six-shot fluted swing-out cylinder. Two line barrel address and patent dates on top of the barrel, "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. / PATD. AUG. 5, 1884. JUNE 5, 1900 JULY 4, 1905". Caliber designation on the left side of the barrel, "NEW SERVICE 45 COLT". There is a six-pointed star on the right rear trigger bow, indicating that it has been returned to the factory. It comes in an original hinged purple box numbered to a different gun. CONDITION: This gun retains virtually all of the original factory-applied blue finish. There is a turn line and some slight high-edge wear. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. Ivory grips are near mint and show some age. The box is in good shape, with a couple of repairs to the bottom. Gun locks up tight and indexes fine.
