(C) FACTORY ENGRAVED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER.

According to the Colt Factory archive letter, this gun left the factory as a .45 Colt with a 7 - 1/2" barrel, blue finish with ivory stocks (furnished by Schoverling, Daily & Gales), factory engraving and furnished with a 2 - 1/2lb. pull. It was shipped to Shoverling, Daily & Gales In New York, New York, on January 24, 1908. In a shipment of 2 guns. Single line barrel address, "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". Roll die caliber designation on the left side of the barrel, "45 COLT". Two line patent dates on the left side of the frame, "PAT. SEPT. 19, 1871 / JULY 2, 72. JAN 19, 75". There is a Rampant Colt logo in a circle next to the patent dates. Matching serial numbers observed on the frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. Assembly number 3102 is on the inside of the loading gate. Single action front sight with a V notch rear sight. One-piece carved ivory grips. There is a wonderful bulls head motif on the left side of the grips. This gun is engraved in a scroll and foliate pattern with a punch dot background. It has lines, borders, and other geometric designs incorporated into the engraving. The action indexes and locks up tight. It is housed in a hinged purple factory box. The box is to a later gun and has been added to this gun. CONDITION: This gun retains some of the factory original applied blue finish. There is some pleasing patina showing through the blue. Case colors in the protected areas. Bright and shiny bore with sharp lands and grooves. The grips show some age cracks. They fit this gun very well. The box is in near mint condition with no edge wear or seam splits.
