Signed on the frame's name plate; each muse identified in Greek on the painted scroll near the lower edge
Panel: 13.75" H x 31.5" W

Notes: This work appears to be a copy after the original painting by Baldassarre Peruzzi (1481-1536) in the Pitti Palace, Florence.
Condition Report: Visual: Fair to good condition. The gilt surface showing slight wear, particularly at upper left. A series of vertical surface cracks extending down from the upper edge, the longest measuring1.5 inches. A 3.5 inch, horizontal, surface crack center left. A .75 inch line of loss in the gilt and lacquer layers attendant with one of the vertical surface cracks already mentioned. Delicate craquelure scattered throughout the painted areas. Frame abrasions along all four edges. Several unobtrusive cracks in the gilt and painted wood frame. One of the eagle-like motif in the upper portion of the frame retouched.

Blacklight: No evidence of restoration under blacklight. Difficult to read with the gilt and lacquer layers.

Frame: 24.25" H x 42" W x 2.5" D
