(C) SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 1911 .45 ACP SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL (1915).

Circa 1915 per serial number. Half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight, left side of slide with three line patent information, and two line "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY / U.S.A." with flaming bomb at rear. Right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" and eagle. "S" observed on interior of firing pin retaining plate. Barrel with "S" and "P" on left lug, faint "MD" on rear lip of hood. Barrel bushing with "S" on interior of left leg. Frame with US property marking on left side of dust cover, and flaming bomb above magazine release, right side with serial number. Small parts comprise checkered spurred hammer, thin tab safety with milled relief cut, checkered slide release with milled relief cut (no "S" observed), long smooth trigger, checkered magazine release, short grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop (no "S" observed) and truncated diamond walnut grips. Springfield magazine with distinct folded wings and lanyard loop. CONDITION: Good as partially rebuilt. While frame was not disassembled, lack of "S" proofs on mainspring housing and slide release indicate parts have been replaced. Retains somewhat less than half of a toning bluing, with the majority of the pistol a dove grey mixed with chocolate mossing. Areas of fine pitting through slide and frame, most noticeable on right side dust cover and about the ejection port. Grips are good with some handling marks throughout. Magazine has a copper repair at rear of feeding lips, and has evidence of torch colors at bottom. Mechanically fine, bore with softened rifling and moderate frosting in grooves.
