Portrait of a seated girl, Clotilde Palms (granddaughter of Joseph Campeau), daughter of Francis Palms and Adelaide Dequindre, who married James Burgess Book. No apparent signature, an oval canvas within an elaborate gilt gesso and wood frame, 52" x 45" overall, Charles V. Bond, b. 1825, Illinois/Michigan. Chs Blome Bros. Co. label on verso. Marked "C.V. Bond, Detroit 1853" on verso of canvas. Provenance: property of a Grosse Pointe Farms, MI private collector.
Condition: As viewed under UV light in the unopened frame: appears to be UV clean; cracking of the paint with instability; slight white dotting foreign matter in background in upper center; not lined or patched; original stretchers; period or original museum quality elaborate gilt frame has cracks and slight small losses.
