Circa 1896 per "British Gunmakers Volume 2", dovetail lump barrels with bead front sight on a smooth, concave, tapering rib with WC Scott Triplex Lever Grip information "The Premier Quality" in Gothic script, and Regent Circus address. Doll's head rib extension engraved with acanthus scroll. Barrel flats with modern Birmingham nitro proofs for a 2 - 1/2" chambered 12 gauge at 3 tons per square inch, and sleeved; sleeve job was professionally executed ahead of chambers and the line is nearly invisible. Splinter tip forearm with reinforced, slightly schnabeled tip, with Scott push button release, and engraved with tight acanthus scroll, case colored on interior with matching serial number. Action flats with serial number, various W&C Scott proofs, and British nitro proof. Sidelock action with iconic crystal indicators, with engraving of waterfowl, including ducks, quail, and heron, accented by acanthus scrollwork. Double triggers protected by a flat bottom trigger with serial number engraved on tang. Non-automatic safety with intaglio "SAFE" ahead of tang. Golden heraldric shield behind top tang. Prince of Wales pistol grip with two panels of point and wave checkering about the wrist, finished by a serrated horn buttplate. PROVENANCE: Ex. Bill Wise. CONDITION: Barrels are very good with the vast majority of their reapplied black, softening legends and engraving throughout, with some minor handling marks, and thinning at chambers and muzzles, chambers mixing with some brown mossing. Forearm with splice repairs on either side of tip, one approximately 3", other 1 - 5/8", with scattered handling marks, release reblued. Action essentially gunmetal grey with some scattered mossing and some mild oxidation at sharp edges. Trigger guard reblued, softening legends and serial numbers. Stock very good with some additional finish, escutcheon at tang somewhat crude and post-factory, one ding to left side of checkering. Mechanically fine, bores excellent with some very minor frosting. The Premiere quality was a superb gun, and the addition of modern nitro proofs is quite nice.
