CALAMANDER DOCUMENT CASE WITH SIX BRASS-MOUNTED LIGHT-BLUE JASPERWARE PLAQUES circa 1860, no visible marks, attributed to Wedgwood, the cover with a rectangular panel applied in white relief with four Greek Muses emblematic of music and theater, the front with two oval plaques of 'The Marriage of Cupid and Psyche' and 'The Sacrifice to Hymen' flanking a brass escutcheon, the sides with circular reliefs of classical figures inlaid into hinged handles, the reverse set with a similar oval relief, the interior divided into four lateral compartments designed for stationery, the cover lined in silk, h: 7 1/4 x w: 10 x d: 6 1/4 in.
