1 small booklet, tied at the top with red string, titled "Spice O'Life" with illustrations by Earl MacPherson, copyright, B & B, U.S.A. The booklet contains 10 pages with (cheesecake) illustrations by Earl MacPherson plus a cover page. The pages are printed on one side and measure H 7" x W 4.5".
1 Pamphlet with illustrations by Al Moore depicting January pin-up girls from "1955" to "1965". The pages are printed on both sides and measure
H 8 3/8" x W 11 7/8". The last page has a height of 9". This may have been part of a calendar at one time but the dates have been removed. There is a tear all along the lower edge of the last page.
4 loose pages of Alberto Vargas pin-up girls. The pages are printed on both sides and measure, H 13" x W 9 3/8". Each page has a verse from Phil Stack.
1 Esquire, "The Varga Girl" centerfold, copyright Esquire Inc. "1945". With verse from Phil Stack. The paper measures H 17 3/8", W 13". The back page of the pin-up is printed with the image of, "The Victory Of The resolute", by Melbourne Brindle. The centerfold is in as-is condition.
Condition Report: The Vargas calendar from "1943" has a 1.75" thin smudge in the upper left corner, the pages have some slight yellowing from age, and the top center hole from which the calendar was hung has some slight wear around it on each page, but the wear is very slight. All in all the calendar is in good antique condition.
The Vargas calendar from "1946" has some foxing on the cover page around the upper edge, left side edge, and lower-left corner. And there is some minuscule fraying at the upper right side edge of the page. The pages are slightly yellowed from age and the back of the last page, (December) is brown from resting on the back cardboard, which is not acid-free. However, this browning does not affect the December pin up on the front side of the paper.
The Knute Munson "Artist Scetchpad Calendar" has some slight crimping at the lower left and lower right corners. All the pages have some degree of yellowing due to age. At the lower-left corner of the cover page, there is a small stain approx. 1/4" in Dia. Three pages of the calendar have a slight crimp at the right side edge of the page approx. 1/8" to 1/4".
The "Spice O'Life" booklet has some slight yellowing to the pages due to age.
The Al Moore pamphlet has some slight yellowing to the pages and a few pages have small indications of minor foxing due to age. There is a tear all along the lower edge of the last page. The cover page has some noticeable light stains near the right side edge.
The 4 loose pages of Vargas pin-up girls have some degree of yellowing due to age, and all the pages have have crimped corners and noticeable edge wear, some pages have smal tears ranging from 1/8
" to 1".
The "Varga girl" centerfold is in as-is condition. It has a crease through the center, with a 1 1/4" tear and a 1/4" tear at ends of the crease.
The corners have crimps and some losses. The paper shows yellowing and some foxing due to age. TW 1-9-20
