The serving pieces having finely detailed floral repossue and acanthus leaf design with shell form terminals. Fork: open work pierced design.

Note: While the pair of serving pieces is stamped J.E. Caldwell, this mark is only in relation to the firm's retail capacity. Around 1860, Caldwell & Co. abandoned silver manufacturing in favor of a shift towards its profitable retailing capabilities. The matching fork and spoon exhibit identical design to that of D&H. Placing a reasonable attribution of the set to Dominick & Haff.
