1920 Bank of Nova Scotia 50 Dollars

CANADA. Bank of Nova Scotia. 50 Dollars, 1920. CH #550-28-26. PMG Very Fine 20.

Halifax, Nova Scotia. No. 42241, Plate A. Printed by ABNC, Ottawa. Signature of "For General Manager" at left and President C. Archibald at right. Just 21 examples of this type are recorded on the Canadian Paper Money Registry, with this example being a new & welcomed addition to that current census. This is a seldom-seen high denomination note, and PMG has graded just eight examples at the time of cataloging. The central vignette is of a well executed agricultural threshing scene, flanked by oversize "50" counters at left and right. Counters are seen in all four corners on the face with "Dominion of Canada" in small font in the top margin, with the bank name below. The reverse displays intricate lathe work in dark green ink, with a seal at center and large counters at left and right. Scarce, and sure to be well received by Canadian paper collectors. PMG comments "Minor Restoration."

Estimate: $5,000 - $6,000.
