The Grand Maneuvers of the Italian Army of 1897 took place during a period of intense tactical and cartographic revision, with the use of specific cartography at the 1:75,000 scale, prepared by the Istituto Geografico Militare (IGM), to represent operations between opposing army corps. The map was mounted on good-quality cotton paper and has silk borders.
This copy was used by the 1st King of Italy, as proven by the protective case with the royal coat of arms embossed in gold.
This map bears the royal label no. 4668 from the private collection of the King of Italy.

Les Grandes Manœuvres de l’Armée italienne de 1897 eurent lieu pendant une période d’intense révision tactique et cartographique, avec l’utilisation d’une cartographie spécifique à l’échelle 1:75 000, préparée par l’Istituto Geografico Militare (IGM), pour représenter les opérations entre les corps d’armée adverses. La carte a été collée sur un papier de coton de bonne qualité et présente des bordures en soie.
Cet exemplaire a été utilisé par le 1er Roi d’Italie, comme l’atteste l’étui de protection avec les armoiries royales gravées à l’or.
Cette carte porte l’étiquette royale n° 4668 provenant de la collection privée du Roi d’Italie.
