CARVED AND PAINTED FOLK ART SPINNER KNOCKDOWN DOLLS
The four bowling pin shaped wood carvings with lollipop form heads, painted details, rare fragments of the original period fabric that once covered them, and each with a well worn hole through the block where they rode on a horizontal rod. These folk art ball toss knockdowns would have been mounted on a horizontal bar so they could swing 'freely' and possibly even spin when struck.
Pictured on page 115 of Sellers' book (Figure 8.15). This is the only example the Tuckers have seen or heard of in their 30 years of collecting.
Each measures 10.5 x 3.5 inches, excluding stand.
We happily provide seamless in-house packing and shipping services on nearly everything we sell.
Condition Report: Very good condition, noting the effects of age and exposure. Surprisingly, there are some remains of the original fabric that covered these in the period. one example is nearly intact.
