CARVED & POLYCHROMED JAPANESE KAMAKURA RULING FIGURE: Rare 13th Century Japanese carving of a Kamakura Period (1185-1333), ruling figure in a resting position, holding a scroll? Polychromed floral medallion motif with flying cranes. Face was carved by a portrait artist and was then attached with inset glass eyes. Approx. 14'' h x 8.75'' l x6.75'' w.
Condition Report: A few scattered losses to polychrome and carved high points, age cracks, wear consistent with age and use.
