CARVER & WIGHTMAN ATTRIBUTED, EDINBURG, SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA DECORATED STONEWARE PITCHER, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, ovoid form with rounded rim, beaded neck, and strap handle. Brushed cobalt floral decoration repeated three times, additional cobalt dropped feather decoration off rim, flanking spout, and surrounding handle terminals. Attributed to the shop of Hiram Carver (c. 1826-1888) and William A. Wightman (1826-1876), Edinburg, VA; possibly potted by George Bodell. 1850-1865.
Condition: Very light hairline on neck and hairline on lower handle terminal. Firing imperfections, including ovoid kiln drip on neck, as made.
Size: 10 1/4" H, 4 7/8" D rim.
