CASED PAIR FRENCH WAX BULLET DUELING PISTOLS
SERIAL NUMBER 1-110/2-110 BARREL12" CALIBER 44 CENTERFIRE MANUFACTURED CIRCA 1890. Produced in France and marketed by Manufrance, These octagon barreled tip action Single shot pistols were used in target and pistol dueling / fencing competition. Known as fighting pistols in France Checkered walnut stocks with fluted barrels with drift adjustable sights. Case colored frame with blue finished barrels and furniture. Guns are numbered 1 & 2 and have the Manufarance trademark / proof mark on underside of barrels. These pistols are nearly identical to the pair in the Royal armories collection at Leeds, Dueling / fencing with pistols was an Olympic sport until 1908 and was quite popular in France as a sport. Pistols come cased with removeable shields to protect the shooters face & hand. A truly unique set of pistol that can also be fired with lead projectiles as well for traditional sport shooting. CONDITION. Very fine with most all blue finish remaining. Case colors are very strong and walnut grips and forearms are equally fine. Case is very good as well but is missing carry handle. ANTIQUE
