Circa 1960s-80s. Group of large format albums with affixed clippings, assembled mostly by contemporary clipping services, the largest album 24 x 18 inches. Worn with detached leaves, dust soiling, losses, adhesive show through, etc.
A fascinating tour of contemporary press on Cassini's fashion from the Camelot years and beyond. Focus is on the years in which he designed clothing for the First Lady and the legacy of that pivotal relationship; his relationship with Grace Kelly and other women; other albums are devoted to his formal, swim and sportswear lines; his lavish lifestyle; his designs for the 1967 Dean Martin film The Ambushers; his perfume and beauty business; a few boards pairing photographs of Kennedy fashions with photographs of Mrs. Kennedy, etc. A rich resource, such a focused archive of contemporary clippings would be difficult to assemble today.
