Louis Blenker (1812-1863) German revolutionary (1848) before emigrating to the United States and American soldier. At the beginning of the American Civil War Blenker helped raise the 8th New York Infantry becoming it's colonel. His gallant actions at Bull Run resulted in him being promoted to brigadier general of volunteers.
