CELTS. GAUL. NORTHERN GAUL AND GALLIA BELGICA. Parisii? ø 19 mm (3.84 g). ca. 60–40 B.C. Obverse: Beardless head with diadem facing left, with dots and snakes in front. Reverse: Galloping horse facing right, with a pentagram above, a wheel in front, and a rosette below. D & T 682; Scheers, Traité 706. Rare in this state of preservation! Beautiful dark brown patina, nearly very fine. Provenance: Ex Apollo to Apollo Collection; acquired from M. Cougnard, Montpellier, in June 2013. This very attractive bronze coin is clearly influenced by the impressive gold staters of the Parisii. Although it is probably not an issue of the Parisii themselves, it was certainly struck near Paris.
