CENTRAL OR SOUTHERN ITALIAN, 13TH/15TH CENTURY
PAIR OF RELIQUARY BUSTS OF MARTYRED FEMALE SAINTS

parcel-gilt and painted copper alloy
heights 17 ½ in.; 44.5 cm.

Condition Report:
Some small cracks or tears in metal and some dents. Surface abrasions throughout commensurate with age. Both with later polychromy (perhaps 17th/18th century?). One with additional metal applique. Several small holes flanking her neck for attachment of further metal adornment. The glazed apertures with replaced glass and plastic. Both with flaking and losses to paint.
