Sur base triangulaire reposant sur des pieds en forme de branches ajourées, la base unie centrée sur chaque face d’un cartouche rocaille sous une terrasse rocheuse agrémentée de trois grandes feuilles d’acanthe, et figurant une panthère attaquant un cheval chevauché par une amazone d’après une sculpture d’August Kiss, devant un palmier portant une coupe en cristal taillé de feuilles stylisées, poinçons sur la base : titre en usage de 1869 à 1942

On triangular base resting on three openwork scrolling branches feet, the plain plain chased with three vacant rocaille cartouches, above a rocky terrace with a panther attacking a horse ridden by an Amazon holding a spear beneath a large palm tree holding a crystal bowl cut with stylised leaves, marked on base

The group featured on this centrepiece is based on a work entitled "Amazon fighting a panther" by the Polish sculptor August Karl Eduard Kiss (1802-1865), created in 1839. Kiss made a marble copy for King Ludwig I of Bavaria in 1842, and another cast in bronze by Christoph Heinrich Fischer for the Altes Museum in Berlin.
