C.F. Monroe Prism & Hobstar Tall 4 Pc. Cut Glass Epergne

This is an outstanding piece of cut glass from the American Brilliant period. It is a tall 4 piece epergne by the C.F. Monroe Company. It is cut in prisms and hobstars. There is a large trumpet shaped vase on top with a blown out ring cut with hobstars on the bottom, then a round plate in the center that sits atop the reverse trumpet base.

This epergne does come apart into four pieces; the bottom vase with a metal fitting, a glass spacer ball, the center plate and the top vase. Three are three metal fittings. The lower female fitting is attached to the glass on the bottom vase. The glass ball sits on the lower female fitting and the separate upper male fitting then threads into the bottom fitting. The plate is placed over the male fitting on top of the plug, and the top vase has a bottom plug with metal casing into the top of the male fitting.

This piece makes a spectacular display. Ca. 1900
