CF Monroe Wave Crest Hand Painted Victorian "Hemschmied Swirl" Opal Glass Dresser Box The box, of oval form, is molded in the distinctive Helmschmied Swirl pattern — its softly lobed and swirling surface relief imparting an almost sculptural richness to the blush opaline ground. The lid is surmounted by a finely painted cartouche depicting a tranquil lakeside landscape in the manner of the period's most refined scenic decoration — soft skies, distant trees, and still water rendered with a miniaturist's delicacy against the warm pink ground. Pale pink enamel scrollwork frames the scenic reserve with elegant formality, the whole composition displaying the confident decorative hand characteristic of Monroe's finest period output.Excellent condition.
