Title: CHAMBER OF CHILLS No. 21 [1st Issue]
Place Published:
Publisher:Harvey [Indicia: Witches Tales, Inc.]
Date Published: June, 1951
Description:

CGC certified: Good (2.0). Off-white pages. Cover: Al Avison. Art: Rudy Palais, Bob Powell, Vic Donohue, George Appel? 1st issue. GPAnalysis: A 2.0 sold for $125 in February 2019.

Al Avison's bondage cover is rendered in a cartoony style that barely hints at the more extreme imagery to follow. "The early issues of Harvey's horror comics abound with scenes of bondage and torture. These fetishistic depictions vanish completely with later issues. (Of course, that isn't to say that they were replaced with images of little kids playing in sunny meadows!)" — George Suarez, Tales To Terrible To Tell #6. NEC: 1992, p. 42.

A limited edition of 150 softcover and 15 hardcover catalogues is available. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $30, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Ten of the 15 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact ivan@pbagalleries.com.

Consignments welcome for PBA's December 2021 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera. Send inquiries to ivan@pbagalleries.com.
