CHARLES III "Carta executoria de hidalguia". Granada 4 December 1777 Folio (ca. 35 x 21 cm), illuminated Spanish manuscript on vellum, written in a two sizes gothic hand and an italic hand in black ink : [4]-228-[1] ff., ruled writing area (ca. 22 x 13,5 cm) (first quires waterstained in upper marg., occ. spotting). Contemp. red velvet, spine with raised bands, domino endpapers, flyleaves in vellum, gilt chiselled edges (sl. rubbed, clasps gone). Nice illustrated patent of nobility granted to Alonso Josef de Ojeda y Martos, native of Alcaudete (Andalusia). Signed by Joaquín Gutiérrez de Celis, chancellor major of the chancellery of Granada, Alejandro Pedro de Martos, clerk (registradator), and approved by Manuel Gómez de la Chica, chancellor. Countersigned by three persons, i.a. Carlos de Ribera. With 4 splendid full-page illuminations, painted and heightened with gold, showing the Holy Virgin with the guardian saints of Don Ojeda y Martos, the grantee's arms, a folding genealogical tree, a portrait of King Charles III of Spain and 7 large initials with landscape scenes in-text handcoloured and heightened with gold, all illuminations protected by a tissue guard in silk.
