CHEF MESNIER MADE SILICONE TIGER HANDCAST MOLD AND SMITHSONIAN SOUVENIR TIGER, FOR PRESIDENT CLINTON Mesnier created the two-part silicone mold from a tiger souvenir he purchased at the Smithsonian Institutionâ s National Zoo gift shop. The mold produced white chocolate tigers that were decorated with stripes and served as the focal point of dessert trays during a dinner that celebrated the Prime Minister of India's visit to President Clinton in 2000. Provenance: Private collection of Former White House Pastry Chef Roland Mesnier. First Lady Rosalynn Carter hired Mesnier, who served 26 years under five presidents: Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. According to Creating the Sweet World of White House Desserts: A Pastry Chef's Secrets, Mesnier created stunning desserts for more than 40 queens, kings, princes, princesses and heads of state.
