CHEF PIERRE CHAMBRIN ESTATE CULINARY LIBRARY, PROFESSIONAL COOKBOOK ARCHIVE, LE BERNARDIN
Offered here is a rare and highly compelling culinary archive from the estate of Chef Pierre Chambrin, representing not merely a group of cookbooks, but a working intellectual library assembled and used by a chef operating at the highest levels of professional cuisine, including White House service and elite private club leadership. This collection embodies the cross-disciplinary foundation of a serious chef’s education, spanning French haute cuisine, American culinary tradition, institutional training, and Michelin-level restaurant philosophy. Unlike typical grouped cookbooks, this is a deliberate, functional reference system—the type of library used to refine technique, expand repertoire, and maintain professional standards at an elite level. Some of the best volumes are; 1. Le Bernardin Cookbook, Maguy Le Coze & Eric Ripert (Michelin-level seafood mastery). 2. The Kitchen Sessions, Charlie Trotter (modern fine dining innovation) 3. The Nouvelle Cuisine of Jean & Pierre Troisgros (pioneers of modern French cuisine) 4. Cuisine Actuelle (professional French culinary standards) 5. The Art and Science of Culinary Preparation (American Culinary Federation educational text) 6. Franco-American Professional Cookbook (classic culinary training reference). This is not simply a collection of cookbooks. It is a documented culinary knowledge system—an intellectual archive tied to a chef who operated at the highest levels of professional cuisine. Opportunities to acquire such complete, working culinary libraries with direct White House chef provenance are exceptionally rare. Being sold by one of the owners of The Rug Life, Sabrina Chambrin Jureidini, the only Daughter of Pierre Chambrin. This book set comes with a COA signed by Sabrina, and one of Pierre’s original White House business cards. Each volume has one of Chef Chambrin’s stamps or embossed seal on an inside page. Pierre Chambrin (1947-2024) is a French-born American chef who served as the White House Executive Chef from 1989 to 1994. Chambrin was born in Paris on September 13, 1947. He received his culinary education at the Ecole des Metiers de l’alimentation, which he attended from 1961 to 1963. He moved to the United States in 1969 and opened a restaurant called Picot's Place in Massachusetts. In 1979 Chambrin took over the Washington, D.C. restaurant Maison Blanche, located near the White House. Chambrin was appointed under the presidency of George H. W. Bush to succeed Hans Raffert. He was succeeded by Walter Scheib. After leaving the White House, Chambrin became the executive chef at the Saint Louis Club in St. Louis, Missouri. The Maitres Cuisiniers de France named him "Chef of the Year" in 2008, and the Academie Culinaire de France bestowed its Lifetime Achievement Award on him in 2013.
