IN PANAMA HANDSTRUCK "12" MARK; Colourful 30 Nov. 1872 env. from "Talcahuano" (filing notes on front) to New Bedford in the U.S. franked by 1867 5c + 10c Pair tied (between perfs.) by 2 fine barred "CANCELLED" ovals with a fair red "TALCAHUANO" cds (9 Dec.) alongside; carried by the PSNC from Callao to Panama. There is a fine small British PO "COLON" transit cds (22 Dec.) on the reverse, and on the front are mainly very fine "PANAMA/TRANSIT" d.s. (30 Dec.) and the rare matching British Panama PO's Handstruck "12[c]" Accountancy Mark, as well as very fine "24/NEW YORK" postage due d.s. (28 Jan. 1873).
