CHINES JADE "MONK" DISC
Ca.1644-1911; Qing dynasty or earlier. A fantastic example of bi-disc made of a pale-green jade with some natural red layers; carvings depicting mytical beasts like phoenix and dragons and a seated monk in the middle. Although mostly undecorated during the Neolithic period, these circular artifacts were commonly carved during later periods symbolizing the ranks of Emperor, King, Duke etc. Very Good Condition;Size:74mmx74mm;143.5g; Provenance: London Estate collection of Asian and Oriental Art.
