This charger is from a service made for Eldred Lancelot Lee (1650-1734), or his son Lancelot. Other examples from this service are in the Diplomatic Reception Room, Accession No. RR-1979.0064 and in The Reeves Collection at Washington and Lee University. A plate appears on the dust jacket and as the frontispiece of Godden 1979 and is noted in David Sanctuary Howard, "Chinese Armorial Porcelain," vol. I, p. 329, J6.
Provenance: With invoice from Philip Suval, Fredericksburg, VA Dimensions: Diameter: 12 1/4 in. (31.1 cm.)
Condition: As per invoice, old restoration at rim and small crack. Otherwise, rims are clean, some small scattered chips to foot ring. Grisaille to rims is a bit pale. Otherwise, looks good.
