CHINESE EXPORT FAMILLE ROSE ARMORIAL PLATTER, QIANLONG (CIRCA 1765)
the platter with shaped border, painted in the center with the arms of (possibly) Aguado de Las Marismas and inscribed with the motto 'Nigra sum sed' (I am black but comely), within a flower and chain border, the wide shaped rims with two molded ribs painted with famille rose garlands and iron-red outlined gilt bands

These arms were previously identified as the arms of Pigenot, however, they are identified as the arms of Aguado de Las Marismas in Antoine Lebel, Armoiries françaises et suisses sur la porcelain de Chine au XXVIIIe siècle, Brussels, 2009, p. 237.
Dimensions: Width: 13 1/4 in. (33.7 cm.)
Condition: Good condition, but for wear and losses to gilt to rims.
