CHINESE EXPORT PSEUDO TOBACCO LEAF SAUCE TUREEN, COVER AND STAND, 18TH CENTURY
each piece characteristically decorated with scrolling variegated leaves, cut fruit and hibiscus, the cover with blue wave finial and tureen with blue rabbit head handles, all picked out in vivid tones, gilt highlights

Provenance:
Estate of Mary Lee Bowman Dimensions: Width of platter: 8 in. (20.3 cm.)

Condition: Cover: wear to gilt around rims, possibly retouched and some wear to enamels.
Sauce Tureen: wear to gilt around rims, footring slightly uneven (in the making) and some kiln grit inside footring under base.
Stand: Wear to gilt around rims, small crack by two linked circles at rim (at stem of iron-red flower), my nail catches but crack does not go through to other side. Approx. less than 1/4 in. long. One tiny rim nibble also between linked circles and iron-red leaf. Some kiln grit to foot-ring but does not affect balance of stand. Foot-ring soiled and some abrasion due to age and use. Some wear to enamels but mostly to gilt around rims and in remarkably good condition.
