CHINESE GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF VAJRASATTVA
Ca. 1700 AD or earlier; Superbly modeled and richly gilt, seated in dhyanasana with hands folded in lap holding a dorje, wearing a dhoti incised with floral motif and ornate belt, adorned with anklets, armbands, necklaces and earring; the elegant face in meditative expression, with heavy-lidded elongated eyes and raised urna, with hair pulled back into a high chignon and secured by a five-pointed tiara. The figure is seated on a lotus base, sealed and engraved. Condition: Very good with some wear; Size:154mmx98mm;600g; Provenance: From an established British collection of Asian art; formerly acquired in the 1990s on the UK art market.
