PEKING. 7% Bond for $5. brown, red, black. No 1326. Fold. Text in Chinese on the front and English on the back. Part of a 4 million Chinese dollars loan secured via a 10% surtax on native and maritime customs duties. The issue of this loan was followed by the foundation of the China International FamineRelief Commission. In the 1920-21 winter, there was a great famine in North China, killing approx. 0.5 million people. Only this one bond is known to us. Ex collection John Herzog.
