CHINESE NEOLITHIC YANGSHOA DECORATED JAR

Yellow River, China, ca. 3500-2500 BC. A squat bulbous pottery jar having a flared collar neck with two opposing loop handles. Elaborately painted decoration in mauve and black on a pinkish-orange ground, with various bands and slash designs. Three areas of evident repainting to the decoration otherwise intact.
