CHINESE NEPHRITE JADE CARVING OF AN AUSPICIOUS ANIMAL , 19TH/20TH CENTURY

Carved Nephrite of a recumbent mythical beast with its legs tucked under the body and head turned back, holding the fungus of immortality in its mouth, with stand. The fungus conveys the wish, “may you live long” or “may your wishes come true.” Measures 1 1/4 x 2 1/2 inches. Appraised for insurance purposes by Tivol in 1980 for $500. Nephrite jade identification determined through lab testing by GIA and AGS certified gemologist Tracey Kahle.

Condition: Good with wears consistent with age.
