Chinese, Tang Dynasty (circa 618-907 AD). A polychrome pottery horse and female rider figurine on an rectangular base. Apparently unmarked. Approx. h.15.5", w. 12", d. 3.75". Provenance: Acquired by a Private Collection in Atlanta,Georgia while in China during 1995 and placed in the care of the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Art, Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia from 1998 to 2013. Item accompanied by copy of appraisal from Paul E. Sternberg Sr.January 1996;Thermoluminescence Authenticity Test preformed in 1995, concluding a proximate age to be 1380 years old; deposit and return receipt from the Michael C. Carlos Museum of Art; and copy of the original debit note purchase in 1995 by Coca Cola ChinaHoldings Limited.
Condition Report: Examined under blacklight, loss to polychrome commensurate with age. Loss to horses ear. Stable crack to shoulder - not distracting.
