– Hartstein of Ujhely .

1. Chok Leyisrael, Zolkiew 5584 (1824), Vayikra, inscription reading, ‘Belonging to harabani
hamuflag Rabbi Pinchas Aryeh Cahana Rapaport of Ujhely’. Contains a number of manuscript
notes, which it is likely are in Rabbi Rapaport’s handwriting. Signature of his grandson Yechezkel
Shraga Katz Rapaport Hartstein on flyleaf.

2. Chok Leyisrael, Zolkiew 5584 (1824), Devarim, inscription on flyleaf reading, ‘These Chukim were
received from the estate of my late saintly father, [signed] Avraham Abele Katz Rapaport
Hartstein of Ujhely’. Contains a number of manuscript notes, which it is likely are in Rabbi
Rapaport’s handwriting. Signature of his grandson Yechezkel Shraga Katz Rapaport Hartstein on
flyleaf.

Rabbi Pinchas Aryeh Hacohen Rapaport – Hartstein, known as Reb Pinchas Samater, grandson of
Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Cahana author of Bris Kehunas Olam. Greatly revered for his saintliness and
revered by Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, author of Yismach Moshe, Rabbi of Ujhel. Buried next to the
Yismach Moshe, his epitaph describes him as: ‘Harav hagadol chad mibenei heichala hagaon
hatzadik chasida uperisha ...’
