CIRCA 1930 BMW DIXI AUTOMOBILE RESTORATION PROJECT WITH PARTS AND ACCESSORIES.* German, early 20th Century. Early BMW Dixi automobile restoration project comprising a chassis with mounted inline four-cylinder engine, believed to have been rebuilt, together with an assortment of loose body, structural, and mechanical components. Including a metal door panel with window frame and mounting cutouts, assorted metal fenders and body panels, structural body frame section, and multi-terminal rotary electrical switch with handwritten wiring-designation tag. Together with two period identification plates, including a Bayerische Motoren Werke DA2 chassis plate and an Ambi-Budd body plate, neither confirmed as original to the accompanying chassis. Also including a Ricko 1:18 scale die-cast BMW Dixi model automobile with opening doors and detailed interior, in its original display box. An early-stage restoration project with substantial assembly and restoration required; completeness and mechanical condition undetermined. Provenance: The Lifetime Collection of the late John J. "Jack" Hentges (Hookstown, Pennsylvania). Cataloger's note: The BMW Dixi represents an important chapter in the history of Bayerische Motoren Werke, marking the company's entry into automobile manufacturing following its acquisition of Fahrzeugfabrik Eisenach in 1928. Based on the British Austin Seven, the diminutive Dixi became BMW's first production automobile. The DA2, introduced in 1929, incorporated all-steel coachwork manufactured by Ambi-Budd and helped establish BMW in the European automobile market. This grouping comprises an early BMW restoration project with an assortment of related period components and identification plates. The degree of completeness, compatibility of the loose components, and relationship of the identification plates to the chassis have not been established. From the collection of Jack Hentges, an accomplished aviation mechanic and automobile restoration enthusiast whose professional experience included work with Dale Adams Enterprises. *PLEASE NOTE: BIDDERS ON THIS LOT WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY AND ARRANGE PICKUP NO LATER THAN 11/10/26 IN ORDER TO AVOID A $250 TRANSFER FEE IN ADDITION TO OUR STANDARD STORAGE FEES.
