Condition Report:
The thick panel is flat, uncradled and stable. It appears to be made of one board. The painted image reads well beneath a crisp and clear varnish. It is in overall good condition, and the details and colors remain well-preserved. Inspection under UV reveals only a few scattered very small pin dots of retouching here and there, as well as a few very fine spots in the figure of Joseph and spots on the stone at lower center. There may be some old strengthening to some of Joseph's costume, and there has been some retouching to the extreme edges. Overall, the figures and animals remain largely untouched. None of these retouches are distracting and all have been well applied. The painting can certainly hang in its present state with no further intervention necessary. Offered in a simply carved giltwood frame with some decorative flourishes.
