Provenance: Sale, Sotheby's New York, where purchased by Count Manfredi della Gherardesca, 22 May 1997, lot 194 Condition Report: The canvas has been lined and cleaned. There are a number of areas of retouching and heavier craquelure which can be seen in natural light, and which have caused an uneven appearance to the varnish/paint surface. This is particularly noticeable to the lower half of the canvas, and to the background at the left and right side of the poodle. Rubbing and abrasions to the framing edges. Inspection under UV light reveals substantial retouching throughout, as well as to the aforementioned areas at the lower half of the canvas, there is also a large area of retouching and potential repair to the upper left quadrant.Condition Report Disclaimer
