Civil War G.A.R. veteran regimental badge for the 1st Massachusetts Cavalry. This post war badge measures 2" x 2.125". T-bar pinback suspension device with second bar for ribbon which is missing.This hard fought cavalry unit had 99 men killed or mortally wounded during the war. They fought in 75 engagements, some of which included, Poolesville, Snicker's Gap, Kelly's Ford, Brandy Station, Aldie, Gettysburg, Rapidan Station, Auburn, New Hope Church, Parker's Store, Todd's Tavern, Ashland, Malvern Hill, Jerusalem Plank Road.
