Civil War CDV of Major General Christopher C. Auger. Card is identified on the reverse, "Major Gen Auger Commanding 1st Division Dept of the Gulf". Auger was considered an able commander with a long military career including service in the Mexican-American War, participating in the 1850s in the campaigns against the Yakima and Rogue River Indian tribes of Washington State and tribes in Oregon. During the Civil War he was severely wounded at the battle of Cedar Mountain. He later commanded the 1st Division 19th Corps at Port Hudson. After President Lincoln was shot, Auger was instrumental in mobilizing the troops that eventually captured John Wilkes Booth. Photograph measures 4" x 2.5". In-house shipping is available.
